Don't Trust - Verify!

Foreign RONs, Fraud & Identity Verification

Identity verification is essential for establishing the identities of the parties in a real estate transaction. We will explore fraud prevention techniques and resources, along with examples of fraudulent behavior we have encountered. The role of a notary public, including both remote online and in-person notaries, is crucial to ensure that the parties are indeed who they claim to be. This presentation will provide you with the tools to obtain timely and seamless approvals for foreign signers using RON, and explain how to manage in-person notarizations outside of the U.S. We will also cover steps for ethically conducting notarizations and provide a refresher on some basics.
